What XLRI GeoLens does

Geotagged photos

Every photo carries a permanent stamp: map, address, coordinates, date, time and GPS accuracy.

Reliable location

Live accuracy indicator and a warning before taking a photo with a weak or outdated GPS fix.

iPhone, Android & web

The same experience in the apps and at geolens.xlri.ac.in. Photos stay on your device.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the GPS accuracy low?

GPS works best outdoors with a clear view of the sky. Indoors, near tall buildings or right after opening the app, accuracy can be 30 m or worse. Wait a few seconds in an open area - the accuracy badge turns green when it is good.

My photo has no address or map

Addresses and maps need an internet connection. Photos taken offline keep their exact coordinates; the address and map are added automatically when you are back online (Settings → Location & accuracy → Complete geotags later).

Where are my photos stored?

On your device, inside the app - or, for the web app, in this browser’s storage. Open a photo and choose Save (Download on the web) to keep a copy in your gallery, or Share to send it.

Camera or location is not working

iPhone: Settings → XLRI GeoLens → allow Camera and Location (Precise). Android: Settings → Apps → XLRI GeoLens → Permissions. Web app: tap the lock icon next to the address bar and allow Camera and Location for geolens.xlri.ac.in, then reload.

Can I change the stamp on a photo I already took?

Yes. Open the photo and tap “Update geotag” to redraw it with your current Geotag design settings. This needs the original, which the app keeps unless you turned “Keep original photos” off.

Using the web app

The web app works in current Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox over https. Photos stay in that browser on that device; clearing the browser’s site data deletes them, so download important photos. For the best camera quality, use the iPhone or Android app.

Uninstalling the app

Uninstalling deletes all photos stored in the app. Save important photos to your gallery first.
